Waltham Singers - 2012 concerts
The Waltham Singers have 2 concerts arranged for 2012.
Saturday 24 March 2012
We will be at King Edward VI Grammar School for our performance of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana". This spectacular work, accompanied by two pianos and a wide range of percussion, will make excellent use of the School Hall at King Edward's, where the raked seating provides the audience with an excellent view of the performers.
Our soloists are Elizabeth Roberts (soprano), Stephen Douse (tenor) and Andrew Rupp (bass).
Tickets for the concert will be available from the beginning of February and cost £13 (or £10 for concessions), and under 18s are £5. Tickets are available from James Dace & Son Ltd, 22 Broomfield Road, Chelmsford, from Gail on 01245 361215, from Kate on 01277 355756, from any choir member, or at the door on the night.
Saturday 16 June 2012
The Waltham Singers will hold their annual Summer Concert this year on Saturday 16 June 2012 at 7.30pm in Great Waltham Church.
Our summer concert includes works by two of Britain's most popular living composers, Bob Chilcott and Alan Bullard. "Aesop's Fables", is Bob Chilcott's delightful setting for choir and piano accompaniment of five of these well-known stories, including The hare and the tortoise and The goose and the swan.
"A Summer Garland" was commissioned by the Waltham Singers from Alan Bullard in 2002. Also in five movements, it portrays the varying moods of summer.
The programme is completed with Brahms' "Zigeunerlieder" (Gypsy Songs) and Britten's "Choral Dances from Gloriana".
We are delighted to be joined for this concert at Great Waltham Parish Church by Tim Carey as solo pianist and accompanist.
Tickets will be available from the beginning of May from James Dace & Son, Gail Saville on 01245 361215, or any member of the choir, priced at centre block £11, concessions £9, and under 18s are £5.
The Waltham Singers' website has a wealth of information about the choir.
